Commemoration of the Santa Tecla flood, which is 150 years old
Sep 18, 2024
Professor David Pino, together with a team of researchers, will participate in the commemoration of the Santa Tecla flood with five talks in five towns that suffered the flood, the second deadliest in Catalonia.
On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, a team of researchers has organised a series of informative conferences in some of the most affected towns: Guimerà, Agramunt, Montblanc, Cervià de les Garrigues and Tàrrega. The team of researchers is made up of David Pino from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Josep Barriendos from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Jordi Tuset from the University of Lleida (UdL), Mariano Barriendos from the Institute of Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies of the Spanish National Research Council (IDAEA.CISC), and Feliu Isard (a flood scholar).
The events to commemorate the flood of Santa Tecla aim to be a historical reminder in the municipalities that were protagonists and to disseminate the knowledge that has been generated after various multidisciplinary studies on this type of hydrometeorological processes, providing an updated and integrated vision.
The program begins on Friday, September 20 with a talk in Guimerà and ends on the 24th with another in Cervià de les Garrigues.
