Dra. Giulia De Rosi joins with a postdoctoral fellowship the Department of Physics

Dr. Giulia De Rosi obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees in Physics at Sapienza, University of Rome. During her Master studies ended in 2013, she was already the author of several publications covering both experimental solar astrophysics and the theoretical investigation of superfluidity in neutron-star matter.

She studied ultracold atomic gases during her PhD at the University of Trento. She successfully defended her thesis in 2017 about the dynamical and thermodynamic phenomena in ultracold gases in low spatial dimensions. Then, she continued her investigation on quantum gases in several institutions in Barcelona. First, she spent some months in 2018 in the Computer Simulations in Condensed Matter Research Group (SIMCON) at the Deparment of Physics at the UPC - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya; and later she moved to the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO).

After having obtained the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship and the Seal of Excellence for her “UltraLiquid” project, both awarded by the European Commission, she came back in Computer Simulations in Condensed Matter Research Group at UPC in September 2019.

The main goal of her current research is the theoretical understanding of the properties of new quantum ultradilute liquids which have been realized only in 2017 in a mixture of two Bose gases. Finally, she will investigate the behavior of an impurity atom immersed in a bosonic gas, which has been observed only in 2016.
