“Time-dependent Variational Monte Carlo Simulations"
Abstract:
The novel method of Time-dependent Variational Monte Carlo Simulations
(t-VMC), by G. Carleo[1], allows to simulate the time dynamics of
quantum many-body systems. In this talk, I will explain the
fundamental principles of the t-VMC method, which is based on
minimizing the action of the system, using a trial wavefunction
depending on time dependent variational parameters. Furthermore, I
will show that propagation in imaginary time allows to optimize the
trial wavefunction for the ground state of the system, which in turn
can be used again as the starting point for simulating real time
evolution. Application of t-VMC to simple test systems, as well as the
optimization of the ground state wavefunction of a system with
modified Lennard Jones interactions, are performed and the results are
shown.
